I found a cockroach in my money bowl, which has been sitting out for a few weeks with rice, a bay leaf, and cinnamon. I’m cleaning it out, but I’m unsure whether to treat it as a sign or just rethink how I set up offerings in a humid home.
What would you do after finding a roach in a money bowl?

I’d treat the roach as a practical pest issue, not as a definite omen. Throw out the contents, wash and dry the bowl, and check the nearby area for other signs of insects. If you want to keep the ritual, use items that aren’t edible, or keep any food offering in a sealed container and remove it soon after.

There isn’t one fixed meaning you have to assign to this. If symbolism matters to you, you could take it as a prompt to refresh the bowl and make the setup feel secure and cared for. That can be meaningful without deciding the insect predicts anything about money.

Dry ingredients can still attract pests, especially when they’re left exposed. I’d skip loose rice and spices in an open bowl, keep the candle away from anything flammable, and use coins, paper, or another non-food item instead. A closed glass container is another option if you want to include an offering.
