Why Do Some Tarot Cards Seem to Block Certain Questions?

I've got this one card in my tarot deck that feels like a boundary - like it's saying, "You can't or shouldn't ask about that." For me, this card represents a connection to the divine and always seems to guide me toward what's best for me. When it pops up, I tend to let go of my question, but I can't help but wonder what it means. Why would it prevent me from asking specific things? Is it because knowing might lead to me messing things up? Does asking questions in the spiritual realm impact the energy or outcomes of a situation? I'd love to hear if anyone else has felt similar or if there's a framework for understanding this. Can tarot reading influence things on the energetic level?

Have you ever thought to ask your deck directly why certain questions are off-limits? I wouldn’t recommend it immediately after getting a ‘no’, but later on, you might find out why those questions are deemed taboo or unanswerable.

I disagree that cards can simply refuse to answer. They always respond, but it might be that you’re not interpreting their message correctly. It’s all about context! Often, people misread the cards because they tether them too strictly to one meaning. You just need to view them through the lens of your unique situation, and as you grow, so will your understanding of their messages.

I believe the cards tap into our subconscious, so if you're not getting the answer, it could simply mean you don’t have it within you yet. They're just a tool to reflect what's already there.

It might not be that the cards refuse to answer; you could just be unprepared for the information. Sometimes we’re not in a place to receive the answers yet, so the messages may not make sense until you are more ready to digest them.

A no from the deck can point to unclear questions or a feeling that you're trying to make the cards take responsibility for your own choices. Maybe it’s a cue to take charge of those decisions instead of relying on the cards for everything.

Sometimes when a card seems to block you from asking something, it might be a sign to wait for more clarity. You could try asking again later to see if you get a different answer. It could also be protective - maybe it’s better that not all things are known right away. Just keep going with your intuition.

Sometimes, tarot can withhold information for your own growth. You might get insights when you're less attached to the outcome. Factors like complexity or your readiness can also influence what the cards reveal to you.
