Advice on Choosing Between Tarot, Oracle, and Lenormand Decks

Hey everyone! I've been practicing tarot for about 5 years, and I'm considering branching out to use oracle decks and possibly explore Lenormand decks as well. I initially got into tarot and have collected a few decks, mostly variations of Rider-Waite illustrations. I thought it would be fun to add an oracle deck for additional insights, but I'm feeling a bit lost, mainly because oracle decks seem so varied and don't have a standard system like tarot.
For those experienced with oracle decks, how do you go about selecting one? Should it match the theme of your tarot decks? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the unique aspects of oracle decks since I find their open-ended nature a bit overwhelming.
On top of that, I've heard about Lenormand decks, but I don't really understand how they differ from tarot or oracle. Are they similar in structure, or do they come with their own unique meanings? Which one is easier for a beginner? Can both tarot and Lenormand be used together?
Lastly, if you have any tips or rituals for connecting with oracle decks when you're just starting out, I would really appreciate your advice! Thanks for your help!

Just a reminder, rituals can be useful, but they aren’t a substitute for genuinely learning about your decks. I suggest starting with a notebook where you write down meanings for each card you explore. Create your own table and fill it with insights as you go! Understanding the structure and common spreads will definitely help you feel less overwhelmed and more confident as you dive in.

When it comes to Lenormand, it's quite different from both tarot and oracle decks. Lenormand cards are more straightforward and often represent everyday life events rather than spiritual insights. They work contextually, which means the meaning of a card can change based on its neighbors in a spread, so it can require a different mindset than tarot. I wouldn't say one is easier than the other—they just require different approaches. If you're already comfortable with tarot, you might find Lenormand to be an exciting challenge! Just keep in mind that you need to think of Lenormand in its own terms.

It seems like you’re trying to take too much on at once! If tarot is your mainstay, get really comfortable with it before adding in Lenormand or oracles. They can complement your tarot readings later. Maybe consider pulling an oracle card alongside your tarot card for extra insight—just one at a time to keep it simple! Take your time, and enjoy exploring!

I think the best way to choose a new deck is simply to go with the imagery and how it resonates with you! I started with tarot, sticking to the Rider-Waite style for familiarity. Then I diversified my decks. When picking oracles, it’s crucial to find one that you connect with. They don’t have to match your tarots thematically; it’s about how they speak to you personally. If you're feeling hesitant, try one-card readings first with your oracle deck. It makes it less intimidating and allows you to really focus on the meaning of that single card.

For choosing an oracle deck, definitely check out YouTube for unboxings and reviews. There are plenty of channels out there dedicated to oracle decks! That way, you get to see the artwork and hear about the meanings from different perspectives before making a choice. It’s all about what you connect with! Remember, if a deck doesn’t click with you, that’s okay too; it just might not be your style.
