How Can I Balance Witchcraft Practice with OCD Challenges?

Hi everyone! I've been feeling really anxious about sharing this, but I think it's important. For the past 10 years, I've practiced witchcraft sporadically, focusing mainly on divination like scrying and tasseography, along with herbal magic. I've always felt a strong connection to nature, but now, my struggle with severe moral and religious OCD feels like it's putting up a wall between me and my spiritual practices. I'm haunted by thoughts that make me feel like I don't belong on this planet anymore, and I'm terrified that nature is judging me for using its resources. Sometimes I even worry about whether I'm taking good care of my pets. I know OCD thrives on seeking reassurance, but I needed to reach out to others who might understand what I'm going through. It's a deep sadness in my soul that I can't shake off.

I completely understand your struggle. OCD loves to attack the things we cherish, especially when times are tough. I’ve experienced my OCD the worst during stressful times, and it sounds like the same goes for you. I often remind myself that this doesn't reflect my care or capabilities. It’s exhausting, but having a mental health professional can be a great resource. You might also find comforting guidance in Nathan Peterson’s YouTube channel; he helped me grasp that what I was facing was OCD, not just anxiety.

I know exactly what you mean, as someone with OCD who has recently delved deeply into witchcraft too! Remind yourself that if your OCD is flaring up, it's just because you truly care about what you're doing. OCD often latches onto the things we care about most, so it's understandable it's targeting your craft. Just remember that these thoughts don’t define your connection with the earth or your pets. Hang in there! I’m always here to chat if you need support.

I totally get where you're coming from. A lot of folks in the witchcraft community find a "once it's done, stop worrying" approach really helps. It's about cultivating your focus right after a ritual or working. But I know for some, like you, it feels nearly impossible to shake those thoughts. Have you thought about connecting with other witches? It can really help to have a supportive community.
