Feeling Creeped Out at Home: Should I Be Concerned?

Hey everyone! I'm really on edge right now and need some advice. Lately, I've been hearing strange noises coming from downstairs, but I live alone. I've also noticed that some of my belongings have been disappearing and reappearing in random spots around the house. To make matters worse, I keep getting this eerie feeling like something is watching me through my closed curtains around 2:20 AM. Should I check it out or just stay locked in my room? I'm really scared and just looking for some guidance.

Have you considered the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning? It can cause all sorts of weird experiences. Definitely worth checking out if you're feeling strange!

curious_cat93: But how realistic is that scenario?

Honestly, if you're feeling really uneasy, it might not hurt to call someone or even the police just to make sure everything's okay. Better to be safe than sorry!

curious_cat93: I'm hesitant to call; I feel like it might be nothing and just in my head.

You're definitely not alone in this! The mind can play tricks on us. I often hear creaks and odd sounds around my place at night too, and it usually turns out to be nothing significant.

It sounds like you're encountering classic paranoia, which I've dealt with too. A good way to manage it is to distract yourself. If you feel anxious, try doing a reality check. Look out the window and reassure yourself that there's nothing there. If you hear footsteps, take a moment to remind yourself there's likely a logical explanation. It might help to talk to someone about what you're feeling, just to get it off your chest.

scaredy_squirrel: I understand your point, but I'm not sure if it's just paranoia. The footsteps seem to have stopped, so maybe I should try not to dwell on it.
