Do I Need to Prepare My Tarot Deck Before Gifting It?

I'm planning to give one of my tarot decks to a friend since I hardly used it and didn't really connect with it. It just feels like it would suit her better than collecting dust in my wardrobe. Before I hand it over, should I do anything specific like cleansing the deck or breaking any kind of bond, or can I just give it to her as it is?

It's a nice gesture to give your deck a little attention before passing it on. A quick smudge with some sage or a gentle wipe with selenite should do the trick. Since you didn’t have a strong bond with it, I think it’ll be just fine. Your friend will likely bring her own energy to it anyway. Plus, I've heard it's said that cards gifted to someone can be a good thing, but who knows for sure? Don't stress too much about it!

Honestly, I don't think you need to worry about breaking any bond just because you didn't connect with it. A simple shuffle with the intention of welcoming a new owner might be enough. You could even knock on it or say thank you to the deck if that feels right. Just relax and enjoy the gift!

When I took in a deck from my partner that they didn't vibe with, I gave it a good cleanse using different types of smoke and let it chill for a week before giving it to someone. I recommend cleansing it in a way that feels right for you, thanking it for its time, and letting it rest for a few days. After that, you're ready to give it to your friend.
