Question

Why Do I Keep Pulling So Many Wand Cards in My Tarot Readings?

I've just started using a deck of tarot cards, and even though I'm not very spiritual, I'm intrigued by them. My family is quite superstitious, so I'm trying to keep an open mind about the experience. I've done some mock readings, daily readings, and shared readings with friends. Interestingly, it seems like I'm pulling wand cards almost every time—like 9 out of 10 pulls! No matter how much I shuffle or even if someone else shuffles for me, I still get wands, especially the King of Wands quite often. I'm curious if anyone knows why I'm consistently drawing these cards or if it's just a matter of needing to refine my shuffling techniques. Any insights?

It's totally normal to have these patterns when you're new to tarot. When you're learning, your intuition can really take the forefront, and wands symbolize curiosity and energy. It seems like you're approaching your new deck with an adventurous spirit, which is very much aligned with the energy of wands. So don’t worry too much about the mystical side; it could just reflect your current creative exploration!

It sounds like you could be going through a creative phase in your life, which is why the wand cards are showing up so frequently. Wands represent that fiery creativity and energy. By the way, are you a fire sign? I usually get more swords since most of my important signs are air-based, but it’s all personal. You could also simply be 'bad' at shuffling, and the cards just want to be with you!

It all comes down to how you're shuffling. If you're using a traditional overhand method with a structured deck, the order of the cards can persist for ages, keeping those wands in there. The best way to really randomize your deck is by combining riffling with overhand shuffling. Trust me, 9 or 10 riffling shuffles should mix things up sufficiently. And remember, understanding probability is crucial if you're reading for yourself or others. Otherwise, you could unintentionally confuse your interpretations!

practicemakesperfect: I've tried tons of shuffling methods too! I've done poker shuffles, overhands, and even tried splitting the deck into several piles before putting them back together. Just to be safe, my partner (who’s experienced) shuffled them for me, but it still feels like I'm stuck with the same cards often!
