Creative Ways to Use Tarot and Oracle Cards Beyond Readings

I recently got three new decks by James R. Eads—one tarot deck and two oracle decks (Prisma Visions, Open Portals, Oracle of Many Paths). I'm looking to explore them in a fun, dynamic way that isn't just about traditional readings or self-reflection since I don't want to overwhelm myself with readings. I've thought about how I could use them for inspiration in art and design, like creating sketches based on a small card spread or maybe even coming up with a themed outfit or writing a poem. I'm also interested in the idea of using the cards to relate to stories or situations, whether from real life or fiction. So, I'm curious if anyone has creative ideas for using tarot or oracle cards that go beyond divination and are more lighthearted?

You might enjoy *Tarot for Yourself* by Mary K. Greer. It's a fun workbook that helps you get to know your deck better while keeping things light!

For your *Open Portals* deck, you could try some card games with friends, or even use it to play Solitaire. It might be a refreshing twist!

I saw a great video by Lisa Papez where she played a game using tarot cards to advance a story. It included random elements, like assigning roles to the major arcana, which made it really entertaining!

One idea is to spread out the cards and see what story they create together. It’s more about boosting your creativity than following strict readings. You could also try reading for a fictional character, giving their story a fun twist!

Have you checked out *Castle Of Crossed Destinies*? It’s a fun read where characters tell their life stories through tarot cards. You could do the same by narrating stories from books or TV shows – sitcoms work particularly well since they tend to have a straightforward structure. Another game I love is called Yellow Horse Stories, where players draw cards one by one to build a story together, either competitively or collaboratively. It’s a blast!

Just a heads up if you’re creating art with the cards – remember that symbols have power, and it’s easy to cross the line between positive energy and something that could bring trouble. Just be mindful of that.
