What's the deal with the 'Mount St Helens was a hoax' bumper sticker?

I recently saw a bumper sticker that claimed, 'Mount St Helens was a hoax.' This totally blew my mind! How could a volcanic eruption be considered a hoax? Has anyone else come across this idea? I tried searching for info but didn't find much. I'm assuming the sticker is about the eruption, but it could relate to something else regarding the mountain. I spotted this sticker in Washington state, so I'm curious if anyone knows more about this conspiracy or has heard anything related.

I remember being in first grade when the eruption happened! We collected a jar of ash from the countryside during a field trip. Who knows if it was from the volcano or just local BBQ ashes!

I lived nearby when the eruption happened! We were buried under about six inches of ash for years afterward. I can't say I've heard of this conspiracy since we all witnessed the event firsthand.

Could it be a satire? If so, that could be interesting and funny!

curiousExplorer92: Maybe! I was hoping for a wild story behind it, but nothing so far.

Honestly, sometimes a funny bumper sticker is just that—a funny bumper sticker. Don’t spend too much energy trying to figure it out!

I think the conspiracy suggests there was a military base there, and the eruption was a cover-up for a controlled demolition.
