Is YouTube Manipulating My Sleep?

I've been using YouTube for a couple of years to help me fall asleep, usually watching science and history videos like Veritasium or some longer gaming content. Lately, I've noticed that while I'm dreaming away, my history is filled with videos about the Iran War, including podcasts and livestreams that just drone on for hours. I'm starting to wonder if these videos could be seeping into my subconscious as I sleep. Could YouTube be trying to influence me while I'm snoozing? Plus, it's weird that around 7 to 9 AM, it seems to play content related to what I was watching right before I fell asleep. This whole thing has me really stressed out about using YouTube to drift off. Should I stop?

You could try making your own playlist! Just disable the autoplay feature so you don’t get random videos while you sleep. It might help with the stress you're feeling over the content.

There’s a possibility that could happen, but it’s more likely just coincidence in the autoplay algorithm! Still, mindful consumption before sleep is a good practice.

Dude, just take a break and go outside for a bit! It helps clear your mind. YouTube can wait till you're awake.

Yeah, it's definitely something to consider! It could be affecting you more than you realize, especially if the content is heavy. Maybe switch to something more calming before bed?

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much. If you're falling asleep to those videos, it might just be background noise. If you don't really engage with the content while awake, your brain probably isn't processing it that deeply.
