What Does Frequent Sightings of Magpies Mean?

I've been spotting magpies almost daily for the last few months, usually one or two at a time. I'm aware of the old saying 'one for sorrow, two for joy' and have always held a bit of superstitious belief around it. Lately, seeing a single magpie puts me in an uneasy mood for the rest of the day, making me wonder if it holds a deeper meaning or if I'm just letting the superstition get to me. I'm really interested in how others interpret seeing the same animal repeatedly. In the context of folklore or witchcraft, do magpies have a specific significance when they show up often, or is it more about personal meaning? I'd love to hear different interpretations or experiences!

In Irish folklore, if you see a single magpie, it's often viewed as a sign of death. But there's a way to counteract that bad omen—just salute them! It's a little ritual that some people use to shift the energy.

I think it’s really about the meanings we personally attach to them. Signs often come straightforwardly; they're not meant to be cryptic. If something is trying to communicate with us, it usually wants us to understand it easily. I’d suggest looking into personal interpretations rather than specific fixed meanings.

Magpies are part of the corvid family, so they share a lot of lore with crows and ravens. I had this cool experience when I was in Anchorage; a magpie followed us around. It felt like such a trickster and just wanted to see what we were up to. I acknowledged it, and it hung around until we found our way to the park. It felt really special!

salutingJoy: Thank you! I actually salute them when I see them and sometimes even ask how their day is going!
