Unexplained Noises and Lights in My House: Looking for Explanations

I've lived in my house in a small Canadian town since I was 7, and over the years, I've had several strange experiences. I'm curious if anyone has had similar occurrences or might have insights into what's happening.
When I was younger, I often heard doors opening and closing in the basement. Once, I checked immediately and found no signs of a break-in and no one around. My mother even heard it too when we were together on another occasion.
A few years later, I heard a voice calling my name at night, sounding exactly like my mother. I thought it was her but she was asleep in her room.
More recently, in 2025, I saw a reddish-orange light outside my front door at night. It brightened, lit up the porch, and then faded away without any explanation. I tried to record it during the second occurrence, but it disappeared too quickly.
There was also a time when I heard heavy movement on my back deck, like something was moving around or searching for something, but I couldn't see anything when I looked. I'm not saying these events are definitely paranormal; I'm open to rational explanations too. If anyone has similar experiences or thoughts on what could explain these events, I'd love to hear them!

It could be wildlife causing some of those noises. Raccoons and opossums are really sneaky about moving around decks and might scurry off as soon as they hear someone inside. But the stuff in the basement and that voice mimicking your mom? That’s definitely more perplexing—those are harder to chalk up to animals.

It sounds like something might have happened to a former occupant or even on the land your house is on. Have you talked to any neighbors? They might have some insights. The voice mimicking your mom could be a type of entity that replicates sounds of the living. And that light you saw could have been an attempt at manifestation—that’s usually not a coincidence, especially if it faded when you tried to capture it.

Whatever's going on might be some sort of entity, especially with a voice calling your name and those noises in the basement. It’s definitely creepy. I’d be careful about trying to provoke anything though—some entities might not be friendly.
