Question

Recommendations for Non-Religious Tarot or Oracle Decks

Hey everyone! I'm a bit of a newbie in the tarot and oracle scene and I'm really looking for a deck that I can use for secular self-reflection. My past experiences with spirituality and religion have been pretty traumatic, so I want to avoid anything that has a spiritual or magical vibe that might trigger my anxiety. I'm looking for a deck that's focused on self-reflection, journaling, and sparking creativity without any spiritual connotations. Here are a few things I have in mind for the perfect deck: it should be visually versatile without dark imagery, suitable for self-love and affirmation but not overly positive, and it would be great if it's beautiful—although beauty is subjective! If you have any recommendations or thoughts, I'd really appreciate your help!

You might want to check out the Numinous Tarot. It’s super colorful and more gentle overall. While it does have a few cards that lean towards the spiritual side, many of the minor cards feature everyday imagery that can be really relatable. It’s an indie deck, though, so it’s a bit pricier than your standard offerings.

You might consider the Light Seer Tarot by Chris-Anne. It’s modern and very gentle, which feels great for self-healing. Another option is the Tarot of the Divine, which is based on various fairytales and myths from all around the globe—very visually captivating!

thoughtful_Reader: I was thinking about Chris-Anne’s Tarot of Curious Creatures too! That one might also resonate with you.

If you love animals, check out the Woodland Wardens Oracle deck. I don’t actually have it yet, but it features a lot of plants and animals, and seems pretty non-spiritual. The Citadel Oracle deck is another option I own—it’s pretty secular, but might be a bit too minimalist for your taste.

If you like art, you could look into artist editions like those from Lo Scarabeo, but be cautious with Klimt’s deck since it has some darker imagery. Botticelli is another beautiful option, but it does carry a lot of religious themes.

Have you looked into the Fountain Tarot? I think it fits what you're going for really well. It's perfect for self-reflection and has beautiful artwork. Just make sure you're drawn to its aesthetic before you commit to it!

mindful_Mia: I totally agree! The Fountain Tarot has an amazing way of communicating through its visuals. It really helps with introspection!
