If something unusual appeared in the sky, what should I do with my phone to make a recording as useful and credible as possible?
What’s the best way to record a UAP clearly?
Answers
Start wide and keep the phone steady. Include the horizon or recognizable surroundings so viewers can judge where the object is and how it moves. If you zoom in, take a separate close shot rather than losing all the context. A hand in the frame might show scale, but it does not prove what the object is or prevent a staged video.
Keep the original file, including its metadata, and avoid trimming, filters, or edits. If you share a copy, say clearly that it was edited and retain the untouched original.

Think about documentation, not just getting the sharpest image. Record continuously if you can, and say the time, location, direction you are facing, and what you notice while filming. Include ambient sound, but don't narrate guesses as facts. If someone else is there, a second recording from a different position may add useful context.
Phone footage alone may not settle what something was. Clear context and an unaltered original make it easier for others to assess, not automatically authenticate, the sighting.

Quick version: steady your arms, clean the lens, get a wide shot first, and don't spend the whole sighting pinching the screen to zoom. Take note of the time and place right afterward, then back up the original file. Don't put yourself in danger or let filming distract you from traffic or other immediate hazards.
