What should I know before trying a homemade Ouija board?

I'm planning to make a Ouija board out of cardboard with some friends later today. To be honest, I'm pretty skeptical about the whole spiritual aspect of it, and I want to explore its dark side to prove that it doesn't work. I'm curious if anyone has tips on how to approach this, whether I should make it scarier or be extra cautious. Also, I'm open to any interesting questions I can ask during the session. I'll share the results afterward!

You might want to think twice about this, even if you're skeptical. There are lots of unsettling stories about Ouija boards—do you really want to take a chance with that? It's worth considering what could happen, especially if you don't really know what you're doing.

If you decide to go ahead, just don't do it at your home. It's important to be in a mentally stable place before trying something like this.

Honestly, just skip it. You really don’t want to mess around with demons or spirits. Better to avoid it altogether!

Honestly, if you're skeptical, you'll probably just end up proving yourself right. Ouija boards aren’t supported by traditional ghost lore. They became popular as a parlor game in the 19th century, often explained by the ideomotor effect—basically, tiny, unconscious movements by people. The results can vary quite a bit and often lead to vague answers or just nonsense. If you're interested, there are older methods of connecting with the deceased that don't rely on a board and are more grounded in history.
