I recall hearing a folk tale about a creature that supposedly steals light from lamps, streetlights, and other sources. Can anyone confirm this legend? I'd love to hear more details about it and whether it's found in various cultures.

I was actually considering writing a two-sentence horror story about this idea earlier today! It’s a creepy concept that really plays on our fear of losing light.

Honestly, this makes me think of Dumbledore and his diluminator from Harry Potter. Those orbs he used were sometimes depicted as blue, which adds a cool twist to the concept of light-stealing.

Yeah, there are definitely stories like that across different cultures. Typically, these legends involve shadowy creatures or moth-like entities that feed off of light sources. I've seen similar tales in urban legend collections, but I can't recall the exact names of these beings.
