Is it okay to share tarot decks with someone else?

Hey everyone! I'm reaching out because I recently had an interesting experience with tarot. My partner and I each got our own decks after a reading at an esoteric fair, where the reader felt a strong connection between us and the cards. I've been using my deck, but I feel kind of strange about sharing it with my partner, even though we both have our own. I get clear messages when I use mine, but the idea of sharing just doesn't sit well with me. Am I just overthinking this? What do you all think about sharing tarot decks?

I think it’s actually pretty cool to share! You can cleanse the deck after each use, or maybe just try using it when you read for each other. It could create a nice shared experience.

For me, tarot is just a tool. I don’t see them as magical in themselves, but rather that the magic comes from me. It’s like sharing a screwdriver; if you can still get clear messages from it, then maybe sharing isn’t such a big deal! It might be time to break free from rigid tarot rules.

thoughtfulPonderer: Does your partner feel the same way about not sharing? Maybe if you both avoid it, it could help resolve the discomfort you're feeling.

I get where you're coming from. Tarot feels very ritualistic to me, and each deck has its own energy. It's totally fine to have a special bond with your decks that makes sharing feel odd. No need to rush it if it doesn’t feel right!

I don't think it's weird at all! Many professional readers use the same deck for different people. I let friends use my decks if they want, and just give them a good shuffle to get my energy back on them when I read. If you’re worried, storing the deck with selenite or quartz can help cleanse it between uses. But if it feels uncomfortable, don’t force yourself to share it.

I can relate! I've used the same deck for years and didn't feel comfortable getting a new one at first. A friend gifted me a new deck, but I still haven’t done my deck interview with it because it feels odd not having my old deck. I know I need to expand, but the thought of sharing it makes me uncomfortable too. It’s definitely a process!
