I'm curious if the choice of where to buy tarot cards really matters. I'm thinking about getting a deck from AliExpress, but something about it feels off. Should I be concerned about the quality or authenticity?

I think it varies. I have some counterfeit decks from gifts or thrift finds that work just as well. I never buy fakes on purpose since it affects the creators negatively. But if you feel uneasy about a purchase, you should trust that instinct! Overall, I suggest avoiding shady sites like Amazon or AliExpress.

Always try to support the original creator, especially if it’s not a standard deck. They put a lot of effort into their work.

Honestly, they’re just tools for divination. The brand might not matter much, but quality does. A deck from a specialized shop will usually perform better than a cheap one you’d find at a dollar store.

I recommend avoiding AliExpress. Those decks are often knockoffs and not worth it. I usually get my decks from places like Hay House or local indie shops that sell cool stuff like crystals. I once bought the Light Seers Tarot on Amazon and it was a terrible fake—flimsy and poorly printed. Buying directly from the artist’s website makes a huge difference in quality. Always check with the creator on how to buy their deck.

It's definitely worth buying directly from indie creators whenever possible. If you find an indie deck priced much lower than from the creator, it's likely counterfeit. These knockoffs often lack quality and detail, and it hurts the original artist who worked hard to make the deck.
