What's the Deal with the Bottom Card in Tarot?

I've been diving into Tarot and I keep hearing about the bottom card of the deck. It seems like there's a lot of focus on it, but I haven't encountered this concept in the books or apps I've used. Can someone explain where this idea comes from and why it's so significant?

When people are unsure about their interpretation, they sometimes look to the bottom card as a sort of safety net to gain more clarity. It's seen as the 'overall energy' or something similar, but just adding cards doesn’t guarantee better understanding; you really need to be thoughtful about your interpretations.

The card at the bottom of the deck is often referred to as the 'shadow energy' of the reading. It represents underlying influences or the overall theme that hasn't been directly addressed in your spread.

Honestly, I’m in the same boat. I usually just draw from the top after shuffling, so I don’t pay much attention to the bottom card.
