How Do I Remove Printed Graphics from Glass Jar Lids?

I'm starting to collect food jars for my projects, but I've run into a problem with the lids. They have prints on them that are tough to remove. I've already tried using acetone, but it hasn't worked. Is there a way to get these prints off? Any suggestions or tips would be super helpful!

I usually don’t bother cleaning off prints that aren’t stickers. For stickers, I recommend soaking the jars in hot soapy water—Dawn is my favorite! Let them sit for a while, and then switch to acetone or olive oil if needed. I’ve reused glass my whole life this way, and it’s super effective!

If you really want to remove the print, I just scrape it off with a knife after boiling the lid. The heat helps loosen it, and then you can scrub it down. Just make sure to be careful!

I’ve heard that sandpaper can work for removing prints, but honestly, I think the easiest route is just to spray paint over the lid. It can be a fun way to add a personal touch! If you’re up for some DIY, I’ve found places that accept leftover hazardous waste like paints, so you might be able to grab some for free!

I prefer to cover the lid instead of removing the print. You could make your own sticker or glue a decorative paper circle on top. It’s a fun way to personalize your storage while adding a bit of energy to your process!

Have you tried painting it with nail polish? It's a fun and creative way to change up the look without worrying about the print!
