How Can I Keep My Cat from Drinking My Ancestor Altar Water?

Hey everyone! I need some advice about my ancestor altar and my cat. I usually keep a glass of water there, but my big orange cat has started jumping up to drink it. I'm unsure if this is a problem or if I'm overthinking it. There aren't any other flat surfaces in my apartment for the altar, and he can easily access it. How can I prevent him from drinking this water? Thanks for any tips you can offer!

Honestly, I just give all safe offerings to my dog! Works for me, haha.

If you want to keep the glass accessible but still prevent your cat from drinking, try a mesh lid or something with a spout so he can't get at it. Cats prefer drinking water away from their food, so you might also consider investing in a cat water fountain to encourage him to drink elsewhere. They really love flowing water!

In some traditions, it's actually seen as a good sign if animals partake in the offerings, like the spirits using them. So I wouldn't stress too much about your cat drinking from the glass. If it worries you, maybe consider using a sealed container instead to keep the water out of reach, but still keep the energy flowing!

CuriousCat89: I like the idea of the spirits accepting the water through my big orange boy! I hadn't thought about a sealed container. I figured it needed to be open for energy flow. Thanks! ❤️
