Has anyone ever seen strange shapes or patterns on their walls unexpectedly?

I woke up very early and decided to lay back down for a bit. When I opened my eyes in the dark, I was surprised to see parallel lines of white and gray triangles and squares on the wall. It reminded me of that iconic green coding from The Matrix, even though I've never actually seen the film. When I reached out toward them, they reacted in a strange way—almost like they were magnetic. However, as soon as I realized this wasn't a dream and tried to move closer, the shapes changed and became static, similar to an old TV screen. Now, whenever I meditate, I can still see this static effect, and it's made me really curious about what I experienced. Has anyone else seen anything like this or have any insights?

I think it's just your brain having some fun while you're waking up. Our minds can create all sorts of wild visuals when we're in that state. No need to worry!

quirkyQ: True, our brains can be super weird sometimes! But it's definitely spooky when you actually experience it.

I had a similar experience as a kid! Once when I was just looking out the car window, I saw a pixelated section of the sky. I thought maybe it was my imagination, but now I wonder if it's something more!

I know what you're talking about! I frequently have hypagogic hallucinations when I'm falling asleep or waking up. While I don't see coding specifically, I’ve encountered odd geometrical shapes that move away when I try to focus on them. It’s like they disappear if I acknowledge them, which feels like some mechanism our minds have.

floatingFeather: That sounds really cool! I wish I could experience something like that. It's like your subconscious is playing hide and seek!

You've probably experienced a visual hallucination! A lot of people report seeing strange patterns or lights during half-asleep states. I personally have seen weird light spots and shapes before, especially when I'm not fully awake or after taking something like shrooms. It's pretty wild how our minds can play tricks like that.

nightOwl_42: That's really interesting. I've had something similar with light blotches too. It's fascinating how our brains interpret things when we're in that half-asleep state.
