I've noticed that the Drudge Report, originally run by Matt Drudge who stepped back years ago, seems to have shifted its tone significantly from center-right to a more progressive stance, especially with its heavy criticism of Trump. I did some digging and found some weird connections involving a Silicon Valley developer and his wife related to the site's strange cookie behavior. Can anyone shed light on who currently runs the Drudge Report and the reasoning behind these changes?

It looks like Matt sold the Drudge Report about ten years ago to someone who hasn’t been publicly named due to an NDA. It’s puzzling why the new owners never revealed themselves, especially given the site's significant influence. After the sale, the site's tone shifted dramatically towards a progressive agenda, with a strong focus on anti-Trump narratives. I’ve heard it’s managed by a small tech team linked to a Democratic couple in Silicon Valley, and they seem to be using the site for political ends during election seasons. It raises a lot of questions about the audience they’re targeting now, especially if the site was once popular among right-leaning viewers.

From what I've gathered, Matt Drudge was pressured into selling the Drudge Report, possibly by a Supreme Court justice like Scalia. The impending threat was that sites aggregating content would be treated as publishers and face liability. Drudge seemed to have put his chips on Trump during the 2016 election thinking it would be a win for free speech, but after being sidelined by Trump, he sold the site. It's interesting to think he may have exited just in time before things turned sour.
