I saw a car with several cameras angled toward other vehicles’ license plates in Rialto. What might it be doing, and is there a way to tell who operates it?

That setup is consistent with automated license plate readers. They capture plate images and may record details like when and where a vehicle was seen. There are different possible operators, including public agencies and private businesses, so the cameras alone don’t identify who was collecting the information or why.

It could also be used for parking, property access, or another kind of vehicle monitoring. I wouldn’t assume it’s a particular company or that it’s doing anything improper from the camera angle alone. If you want to check, note any logos or company names and ask the relevant city department or police non-emergency line whether they can identify the vehicle.
