In April 2007, a catamaran named the Kaz II was discovered abandoned off the coast of Queensland, Australia, with no sign of its three passengers: Derek Batten (56), Peter Tunstead (69), and James Tunstead (63). The captain, Batten, had planned to sail close to the shore. The boat was spotted three times before it was found adrift. A nearby vessel reported seeing it make a sudden 90-degree turn towards a reef, and a woman fishing noted it was stationary. Eventually, a helicopter drew the attention of maritime authorities, leading to a search of the boat where no one was found. To this day, the fate of the three men remains a mystery.

It's pretty eerie that they had a solid supply of food and a rifle with ammunition onboard. I mean, deep water is no joke—it freaks me out too. Still, it feels like there's more to this story than just bad luck out there on the ocean. They seemed to have everything they needed—it's weird no bodies or signs have turned up even years later.

OceanicExplorer22: Totally! It’s like, how could they just vanish? I think they were definitely inexperienced and didn’t realize how dangerous the sea can be, which led to this whole situation.
