Is it time to start preparing for a collapse?

I've been thinking a lot about the state of the global economy and how it might be on the verge of collapse. I haven't actually done much in terms of preparing except for living in a close-knit community. How are you all dealing with this? With the rise of violence often accompanying economic turmoil, I'm curious about your thoughts and strategies. I can't shake the feeling that we're heading towards a chaotic scenario reminiscent of something out of Mad Max. While I hope that those in power may start working together to find solutions, I'm looking for advice on how to be ready just in case things go south.

People have been predicting a collapse since the 2008 financial crisis, and honestly, I doubt it’s going to happen. Late-stage capitalism seems pretty set on avoiding that scenario. What makes you think this time will be different?

I think it’s important to remember: all fiat currency tends to lose its value over time—sometimes it’s just good to be aware of that!

But if you look at how much has happened since 2019—lots of societal issues that everyone thought were impossible—maybe it’s not safe to just assume we’re in the clear. Governments tend to create divisions among people, and you can never be too sure how far they'll go to control things in a crisis.

I have a theory that the CIA actually wants folks to start building bunkers. They might want to use them as command centers during tough times. It’s a scary thought, but who knows!

historian_hank: Totally agree! It's a precarious balance, and I wouldn't want to assume everything will stabilize on its own.
cautious_crafter: Exactly, and with everything going on, it feels better to be proactive than to wait for assurance that nothing will happen.
