Question

How Can I Honor Animals Killed on the Road?

Hey everyone! I take the train to work daily and often see dead animals, like birds and other creatures, lying on the tracks. It really saddens me to think about them being run over repeatedly, and I want to find a way to honor them. Is there a meaningful ritual or practice I can do to show that someone cares about them? I just want to ensure they aren't forgotten in this urban environment.

In my rural area, I come across animals that have been hit by cars quite often. I like to say a little prayer when I see them, something along the lines of: "I'm sorry this was your end, little one. May you be free from fear and pain, and may your life give life to others." It's a simple act that can be very meaningful. If you want to create your own ritual, it could be anything personal to you, like a special prayer, drawing a little picture of the animal, or even blowing a kiss. Just something sincere that resonates with you!
