How Does Magic Work? Exploring Different Mechanisms

I'm really curious about how people understand the mechanisms behind magic. When you practice magic, how do you see it fulfilling your intentions? We can probably agree that it has the power to change both you and your reality in accordance with your goals. Personally, I believe that there are countless ways magic can achieve an outcome, somewhat like how a bolt of lightning finds the most efficient route to the ground. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!

Magic can operate through various mechanisms depending on the type of spell. It might leverage brainwave states or self-psychology techniques, tap into metaphysical dimensions or spirits, or even just be the power of coincidence. For instance, a love spell might unconsciously make you more attractive, leading you to draw someone in. Similarly, a money spell might connect you with an earth spirit to help you attract wealth, or the timing of your spell could just coincide with real-world events. Overall, magic seems to branch into different techniques that might look similar but operate on distinct levels, much like how computers and gaming consoles work differently yet have overlapping functions.

I'm open to feedback here, so let me share my thoughts. To me, practitioners of magic typically believe in one of three concepts: 1) That a divine entity responds to their intent; 2) That the universe itself organizes events in response to their magic; or 3) That each individual possesses the ability to shape their reality as they believe it can be done. How this alignment happens seems to relate to personal dynamics, reactions to events, and how we reflect on our interactions with others.

The way I envision magic is similar to the uncarved statue within a block of marble. The sculptor's intent and skill bring out the sculpture from within. In this analogy, magic is not about creating something from nothing, but rather about shaping and transforming what already exists. You can think of it as taking potential from the formless and giving it structured reality.

I think every outcome actually exists simultaneously in parallel universes. When you cast a spell, you’re essentially shifting to a reality where things align with your wishes, particularly if you can enter a trance state. This explains why you often see a chain of events leading up to your desired outcome, as if it was preordained before you even took action. It's all about retro-causality and parallel realities!

In my view, magic revolves around three core elements: 'luck', 'mind', and 'spiritual'. Generally, 'luck' and 'mind' are responsible for influencing physical outcomes, like landing a job, while 'spiritual' encompasses the underlying energies or entities guiding the process.

Challenging_Views: That's a great perspective! Just to clarify though, when you say "every possibility," I guess you mean it doesn't literally mean any possibility? Like, there are infinite numbers between two whole numbers but not outside that range.
Bookworm_Beans: That's an interesting approach! Are there any books you'd recommend for diving deeper into trance work or parallel universes?
