I keep coming across examples of animals solving problems or seeming to respond to their surroundings in thoughtful ways. It has made me reconsider eating meat. Do others notice this too, and has it changed how they think about food?
Has anyone else started noticing how clever animals are?

More examples may be reaching you, rather than animals suddenly acting differently. Videos and stories make striking behavior easier to notice, while a single clip can leave a lot unclear about what an animal understands or feels. Still, paying closer attention can be meaningful even if it doesn't prove a bigger change is happening.

You don't need to settle the question of whether an animal appreciates beauty before deciding what feels right to eat. If eating less meat fits your values, you can make that change gradually and choose foods you enjoy. Other people may draw the line differently, and that's a separate choice.

I'd separate two questions: what animals can do, and what you want your diet to look like. Clever behavior can prompt a closer look, but it doesn't have to be the sole reason for a food decision. If you're cutting back, think about what will replace the meals you used to rely on, so the change is practical as well as ethical.

That makes sense. A gradual change seems easier to stick with than trying to resolve every question about animal minds first.

That distinction helps. Seeing more of it can change what feels familiar, even if it doesn't tell us exactly what an animal is thinking.
