I sometimes sense a presence around bedtime, and recently I thought I saw a small dark figure beside the bed. It vanished while I was looking at it. What could explain an experience like that, and what should I do if it happens again?
Has anyone else seen something briefly at bedtime?

Brief images or a sense of presence can happen as the brain shifts toward sleep, especially when someone is tired or has just woken. They can feel vivid without showing that anything was physically there. Keeping a simple note of when it happens, how much sleep you got, and whether you were falling asleep or waking may help spot a pattern.
If it starts happening when you are fully alert, becomes frequent or frightening, or comes with other new symptoms, it would be sensible to discuss it with a health professional.

Try turning on a light and checking the room calmly. Shadows, bedding, furniture, or a quick glimpse of a pet can be misread in dim light, and a momentary visual impression can disappear as your eyes adjust. You do not have to settle on one explanation right away.

One separate thing: noticeable leg swelling, especially if it is new or mainly affects one leg, is worth getting medical advice about rather than just brushing off as a long day standing. Seek urgent care for sudden swelling with pain, redness or warmth, or for shortness of breath or chest pain.
