I’ve heard both that a honey jar should be left undisturbed and that it should be charged or tended now and then. Is there a general rule, or does it depend on the working?
Do honey jars need regular attention, or should I leave them alone?

There isn’t one rule that applies across every practice. If you’re following a particular tradition or set of instructions, use those as your guide. Otherwise, choose whether tending the jar is part of your intention, rather than treating either approach as mandatory.

I’d decide on a simple routine when you make it. You might leave it undisturbed, or revisit it occasionally with a brief prayer or other meaningful gesture. The routine is a choice about how you want to practice, not a guarantee that one method works better.

If tending it starts to feel like something you have to do constantly, it’s reasonable to step back and leave it alone. A jar can also just be a reminder of your intention, so you don’t need to keep checking or shaking it for that meaning to matter.
