I keep seeing claims about rituals or retreats that promise to reset someone’s sexual past. Can spiritual practices help with lingering feelings, or is the idea of erasing that history missing the point?
Can a ritual really help you feel like you’re starting over?

A ritual can mark a change in how you relate to the past, but it can’t make the past disappear. I’d be wary of anyone promising a complete reset, especially if they’re charging a lot or suggesting you’re spiritually damaged unless you buy their help.

If the past still feels heavy, the useful question may be what’s underneath that feeling. Shame, pressure, or painful experiences can take time to work through. A therapist who understands trauma could help, and you don’t need to label yourself as tainted or broken to ask for support.

There’s room for spiritual practice without treating your history like contamination. If a ceremony feels meaningful, it could be a way to reflect on what you want now, set boundaries, or make a personal transition. I’d look for someone who respects your choices rather than selling a guaranteed purification.
