I’m thinking about starting a group chat where people can do readings for one another. Does that sound useful, and what would make it work well?
Would a group chat for reading for each other work?

Sounds like a nice way to practice, especially if the group keeps it low-pressure. I’d set a few basics up front: whether readings are tarot only, how people ask for one, and whether everyone is expected to give as well as receive.

Could work, but group chats can get busy fast. A simple format for requests, plus a limit on how many readings are open at once, would keep messages from getting lost. It may also help to agree that readings are for reflection, not a replacement for professional advice.

I’d keep the first version small and see what people actually want from it. Some may want practice and feedback, while others may only be looking for a reading. Being upfront about that, and about privacy around personal details, can prevent awkward expectations.

A clear opt-in rule would help too. Nobody should feel obliged to read for a question they’d rather skip.
