Something unsettling happened on public transport. I used a protective visualization, then noticed the other person looking at me. I can’t tell what it meant, but I still feel shaken. Is there a grounded way to settle and feel safe again?
Was my protective visualization enough, or should I do something else?
Answers
The visualization can be useful as a way to steady yourself, even if it can’t tell you what the other person intended. A frightened feeling is real, but it isn’t proof that someone sent harmful energy. Try a slow exhale, notice a few ordinary details around you, and remind yourself that the encounter is over.
If you feel unsafe in the moment, move toward other passengers or staff and contact someone you trust. If this kind of fear keeps happening or starts disrupting your day, consider talking it through with a mental health professional.

If a small ritual helps you feel settled, keep it simple and treat it as a personal reset, not something you have to do to undo an attack. Wash your hands or take a shower, change clothes, and do something familiar afterward. You don’t need special salt, and rubbing salt on your skin can irritate it.
A few minutes of calm breathing or writing down what happened without guessing at the stranger’s motives may also help the feeling pass.
