Is it rude to burn sage while guests are over?

I'm curious about the right time to burn sage when hosting. I feel like doing it during a visit might come off as rude since it could imply there's negative energy from the guests. What do you all think about sage burning before or after they arrive instead?

I never burn sage myself, mainly because I have pets that could be affected by strong scents. But if I did, I would definitely consider if my guests have breathing issues like asthma before doing it.

I personally can't stand the smell of burning sage or any strong incense in other people's homes. It feels a bit inconsiderate to do it while guests are there.

If I were to burn sage, I wouldn't do it with guests around. Better safe than sorry, especially with anyone who might have allergies or be sensitive to strong smells.

Honestly, I doubt most people will even notice if it’s sage or something else. But just a tip from someone who's sensitive to smoke: it's a good idea to check if your guests are okay with it before lighting up.

It really depends on who your guests are. Some people might not mind at all, while others could feel a little awkward about it.
