How can I tell if a UAP discussion is being manipulated?

I’m trying to judge claims that UAP communities are being manipulated. What signs are worth checking, and what would count as actual evidence?

Start with the claim itself, not the theory about who is behind it. Check whether the post points to material you can inspect, whether that material supports the conclusion, and whether other explanations are considered. A confident tone or lots of agreement is not proof of coordination.

I’d treat suspicious patterns as prompts to verify, not as a verdict. Repeated wording, sudden attention, or accounts echoing one another might raise questions, but each can have ordinary explanations too. For a stronger case, look for evidence connecting the activity, such as reliable records showing shared control or an organized effort.

Keep a clear line between what is visible and what you’re inferring. Save the original posts and dates, compare claims against the underlying photos or documents, and note when details change. If the evidence only shows that people are excited or repeating a story, say that. Don’t label it a campaign without more to go on.
