Some people sense a pet’s presence after losing them, sometimes while settling into bed. How do you think about that kind of experience without dismissing what it means to the person or assuming a supernatural explanation?

A vivid sense of someone nearby can happen around sleep, when dreams and waking awareness blur together. Grief can make familiar memories feel especially present, too. That doesn’t make the experience meaningless, but it also doesn’t prove what caused it.

People may understand an experience like this spiritually, and that can be a comforting personal interpretation. I’d leave room for that meaning without treating it as a rule or a claim everyone else has to accept.

If it feels comforting, remembering the pet or keeping a small bedtime ritual might help. If it becomes frightening, disrupts sleep, or starts affecting daily life, talking it through with someone supportive or a health professional could be useful.
