Guidance Needed on Experiencing Hypnagogia and Possible OBE

I've been trying to achieve out-of-body experiences (OBEs) or astral projection for a couple of years but haven't had much success. Over the last three months, I've started experiencing some unusual sensations as I fall asleep. I often hear a loud swooshing sound originating from the back of my neck, which has occurred about 30 times and wakes me up immediately. I feel like I might be getting closer to an OBE. Lately, I've noticed other sounds too—footsteps, people talking as if in a crowded room, or sometimes sounds like water or music. Just the other night, I actually saw a figure standing by my bed, a male figure whose face I couldn't see but I detailed his clothing. I woke up instantly, and he was gone. I'm reaching out to see if anyone has had similar experiences or can help me understand what might be happening. Am I getting closer to achieving an OBE or astral projection? Any advice on how to move forward would be incredibly appreciated!

Thanks for sharing your journey! What you're experiencing seems to reflect an expansion of awareness. Whether you call it astral projection or something else doesn’t really matter; what's important is how you perceive it. Everything you experience is a reflection of your inner self. Try not to label or judge what you feel. Instead, just observe and enjoy the experiences without attachment. Many individuals report similar sensations, and your path will be unique to you—embrace it! If you have more questions, feel free to ask!

I totally relate! I get some similar experiences too. I think of it as a kind of awakening but it can be confusing. Just try to stay grounded and don’t force it. The more relaxed you are about it, the more natural it will feel. I'm in the dark about it too, so you're not alone!

You're definitely on the right path! What you're experiencing sounds like hypnagogia, which is the state between wakefulness and sleep. The sounds and visuals you've described often happen when you're about to enter an altered state of consciousness. The trick is to remain calm and just observe the sensations without trying to control them. With practice, you can maintain awareness and even guide your consciousness into an OBE! Keep it up!
