Are We Living in '1984' or 'Brave New World'?

I've recently read both '1984' and 'Brave New World' over the last few months, and it's really hit me how much our current reality feels like we're in one of those novels. Living in the US today, it seems like we're facing many similar issues. I'm curious about where we should go from here. Should we consider buying land or learning to farm? Do we even need to worry about saving for retirement or college given the current state of things?

It's interesting to see how both novels reflect what's happening globally right now. Many argue that we're slowly moving toward totalitarianism, where censorship is rampant and governmental power is expanding. It's a concerning trend, and it feels like life is getting increasingly challenging.

I suggest preparing as best as you can while trying to live your life. Some believe that only those who truly follow their beliefs, like faith in Jesus Christ, will manage to stand firm when serious changes happen in society.

You nailed it! It's a mix of both fear and distraction — people constantly glued to their screens out of anxiety and for entertainment. It’s hard to maintain perspective when we’re bombarded with conflicting information all the time.

openMindExplorer: That's an interesting take. I personally don’t identify strongly with any religious beliefs, so I find that perspective less appealing. But I’m always open to considering new views.
curiousNerdy: Do you have any ideas on what that 'mark' might be? Some people speculate about technologies like Neuralink.
