Are sprites actually being described as living things here?

I came across a timeline arguing that sprites are atmospheric organisms and that evidence of them was concealed. Is there solid support for that, or is it reading too much into the imagery?

The resemblance to a jellyfish is visual, not evidence of biology. Sprites are brief luminous events associated with electrical activity in the atmosphere. The account you describe gives no biological measurements or observations that would establish they are organisms.

I'd separate the claims. Seeing unusual lights is one claim, identifying them as life is another, and saying authorities hid that discovery is a third. A timeline that places events near each other does not prove those links. Each part needs its own evidence, and the account as summarized here doesn't provide it.

For a claim like this, look for independently checkable evidence: clear methods, repeatable observations, and physical or biological data that other researchers can examine. A striking shape in a short-lived flash is not enough, and a claim of concealment needs evidence of concealment too. Without those pieces, this is speculation rather than a demonstrated discovery.
