I found a folded message embedded near the top of a seven-day candle. It caught fire while the candle was lit and the glass cracked, so I put it out. I could make out the word “gullible,” but not the full message. Is there any way to tell what it said or how it got there?
Any idea what this paper inside a candle might have been?

There’s no reliable way to recover the full wording from one visible word. It might have been an intentional insert, a production or packing mix-up, or something added later, but the paper alone can’t tell you which. I wouldn’t read a definite message into it.

The safety part is clearer than the mystery. Since the paper ignited and the glass cracked, don’t relight that candle. A foreign object close to the glass can create a hot spot, and damaged glass can fail further.

If you want to investigate the source, keep the packaging and take clear photos of the remaining paper and candle. You could ask the seller or maker whether they recognize the material, though the exact message may remain unknown.
