I’ve enjoyed Kabbalistic writing and books that touch on Christian symbolism, but I’m looking for something that explores Christ or biblical stories in more depth. I’m open to different esoteric approaches.
Any good esoteric books focused on Christ or the Bible?

For a Christ-centered esoteric reading, try Rudolf Steiner’s Christianity as Mystical Fact and the Mysteries of Antiquity, then his lecture cycle on the Gospel of St. John. Steiner reads Christian stories through spiritual symbolism rather than offering a conventional historical account, so it helps to treat his interpretation as one particular framework.

Valentin Tomberg’s Meditations on the Tarot: A Journey into Christian Hermeticism is a substantial, unusual take on Christian symbols. It isn’t a verse-by-verse Bible guide, but it spends a lot of time with Christ-centered imagery. Dion Fortune’s The Mystical Qabalah could pair well with it for a symbolic framework, though it’s not mainly about Jesus.

If you want to compare esoteric readings with early Christian material, look at The Nag Hammadi Library in English and Elaine Pagels’s The Gnostic Gospels. They offer different things: one is a collection of ancient texts, the other is a historical introduction. Neither is an occult manual, but they can widen the range of early Christian ideas you’re considering.
