Why are people misusing the word 'anymore'?

I've noticed a strange trend where people are using the word 'anymore' incorrectly, like in the example: "Boy, do I sure trust CBS news any more." Is there a reason for this shift in usage?

It seems like some folks might confuse the way different regions handle language or just end up with typos. I've seen some take it to mean something like 'any longer' rather than its usual context. It's wild how much language evolves based on how we hear others use it!

It's a trend I've seen growing as well! I think younger generations might just be picking up on language differently, or maybe they just don't care about the old rules anymore. It's like another level of confusion on top of how people already mess with words!
EagleEyeEditor: Right? It almost feels like a 'would of' situation where people just aren't thinking about it the same way.

From my experience, some regional usages might play a part. I've heard older folks say it the wrong way for ages, thinking it’s just how everyone talks. That could be influencing the newer crowd.

LanguageLover88: I've definitely noticed this too! Sometimes, people mix up words because of how they're pronounced in their area.
