Has Anyone Seen Orange Floating Orbs in the Sky?

Between 1996 and 1999, I spotted a mysterious orange orb hovering in the night sky above Yucaipa, California, on four separate occasions. Each time, I was with family members who also witnessed it. The first time occurred with my sister as we were driving to the train station. A strange light in the southern sky caught my attention, and we pulled over to observe it. The orb was an orange-yellow color, resembling lava, and appeared stationary. It looked about the size of my fingertip and had drips coming down from it. I ruled out it being a planet or aircraft because it was dripping liquid fire. Could it have been a sky lantern or a plasma ball?
The second sighting happened nearly a year later while I was returning from the grocery store. An orange light caught my eye again, this time to the east, right above my sister's house. I called her, and we both observed it drifting behind the trees. She described it as a floating lava pancake. The third sighting occurred in 1997 when my daughter pointed out a bright red light in the sky, which turned to orange when we got home. The last sighting was on New Year's Eve 1998 when neighbors and I spotted another orange orb floating above Crafton Hills. It slowly moved sideways and then became a red dot before disappearing. I haven't seen it since and often wonder what it was.

Interesting! I lived in Live Oak Canyon near Yucaipa in '94, and I experienced about six hours of missing time with family. We were at home, and all of us have no memory of that time. It's strange to think that these orbs might connect to that.

Have you considered that it might have been ball lightning? I’ve heard some stories that align with what you described. It's a rare phenomenon but can look pretty spectacular in the night sky.
Curious_Seeker: I did think about ball lightning, but from what I’ve seen, it looks different. I'm more inclined towards the plasma phenomenon, especially since I live near the San Andreas fault.

Check out the Hessdalen Lights documentary; it presents similar phenomena that might interest you. Here’s the video: [Watch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hBUk13yE8s&t=150s) and their official site: [Hessdalen.org](https://www.hessdalen.org/).

I've seen orange orbs of light too! They really stand out in the night sky and are often puzzling. It's interesting to know I’m not the only one who has witnessed these.

These orbs sound like what many refer to as plasma orbs. I see them frequently, especially in the fall. They look like large fireflies that pulse and float around, almost like they’re alive. I find them quite calming. You might want to check out a publication I found on them, it dives deep into their nature regarding extraterrestrial life and such. Curious_Seeker: That sounds frustrating and mysterious! I remember reading about a number of reports on the MUFON website about orange orbs in Yucaipa around that time frame. You might have experienced something related to those orbs on a different level than I did!
