Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) are often too quiet or subtle to be heard by the human ear during an investigation. This dashboard solves that problem by providing a visual representation of sound. The scrolling spectrogram (waterfall display) allows you to “see” the audio, making it easier to spot the distinct frequency signatures of unexplained voices or knocks that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Features for Investigators

• Live Spectrogram: A rolling display that maps frequency intensity to color. Low-pitched sounds appear at the bottom, high-pitched at the top. Intense sounds glow yellow and white, while silence remains black.
• Volume Meter & Threshold: Monitor the ambient noise level in real-time. You can set a visual “Anomaly Threshold” to help you distinguish between background noise and sudden spikes in energy.
• Event Logging: Keep track of your session with an automated timer and log. Use the “MARK EVENT” button to instantly timestamp moments where you feel a cold spot, see a shadow, or hear a disembodied voice, making review much easier later.

How to Conduct an EVP Session

1. Prepare the Room: Ensure the environment is as quiet as possible. Turn off fans, appliances, and phones.
2. Start Monitoring: Click “Start Session” and allow microphone access. You will see the spectrogram begin to scroll.
3. Ask Questions: Speak clearly and leave 10-15 seconds of silence between questions to allow for a response. Common questions include “Is there anyone here?” or “Can you tell us your name?”
4. Watch for Anomalies: Look for visual spikes in the spectrogram during the silent periods. A voice often appears as a squiggly line or a burst of color in the mid-frequency range.
5. Mark & Review: If you hear or see something, hit “MARK EVENT.” When finished, click “Stop” to end the session.
